‍Gabriel Castro: Ruler of an Addon Empire

Welcome back to LootLabs’ Creator Spotlight, a place where we shine a light on the awesome creators of the LootLabs community and talk about their journey, in order to draw more attention to their fantastic creations.

This time, the spotlight is on Gabriel Castro - the founder of yBrothers Studios and creator of game-changing Minecraft add-ons like Tropycal, yFantasy, yBiomes Craft, and many more.

We were fortunate enough to talk to Gabriel briefly, and this is what he shared with us.

The Journey Begins

Gabriel’s interest in the world of Minecraft addons was first sparked many years ago, after his first encounter with Minecraft Java mods. After applying them to his game, he began having bursts of creativity that drove him to explore the limits of Minecraft by adding things that he always wanted to see and do in the game. With the release of version 1.8, he got serious about his journey and took the time to learn more about addon development and the artistic process.

That was more than five years ago. Today, Gabriel has a dozen incredible addons under his belt, as well as numerous social media channels where he documents his creations and their progress.

Overcoming Challenges

According to Gabriel, one of the biggest challenges he has faced on his journey as a creator is addon piracy - a crime where someone steals his work and makes a profit off of it.

It’s an annoying, ongoing problem that Gabriel continues to deal with.

Plans for the Future

‍

As Gabriel continues to grow and improve, he plans to work more with Java mods, grow his team, and increase the frequency of his content creation for his social media channels.

For now, his focus is on launching yCreatures Plus as an addon and mod with feature parity for Java, as well as continuing to work on yDino and yCreatures Jungle.
